The upcoming Death Note film will be an update from the original 2006 film pair.
[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap] new Death Note is in the works right now following the success of two Death Note films that were released several years early. The movie is based on Tsugumi Oba’s immensely popular manga by the same name which has spawned several animes, games, a musical and a spin-off movie called L: Changed the World in 2008.
As of right now, there are no cast announcements for the roles of Light Yagami and L, but Shinsuke Sato will be directing the film. As for the plot of the film, not details have been given except for the involvement of six notebooks and the six rules governing the use of said notebooks.
The film will follow Light Yagami, a college student who finds a cryptic notebook that gives him the power to kill anyone at anytime if he writes the victim’s name in the notebook. When people start mysterious dying a private investigator by the name of L becomes involved to find the cause of this phenomenon.
Death Note will be released in Japan some time in 2016.
