As mentioned before, Whispers of Oblivion is a prequel to the events that will take place in Legacy of the Void. The prequel will feature the famous hero, the Dark Templar Zeratul and it will tie in the previous events from past expansions for Star Craft II’s final and epic conclusion. There is no current release date for Whispers of Oblivion, but the prequel will be released for everyone to play, including those who did not pre-order Legacy of the Void. Watch the trailer for Whispers of Oblivion below.

If you decide to purchase Legacy of the Void you can choose from three different editions.

  • The standard edition can be bought in retail and digital format for $40, although Blizzard is encouraging its players to buy the digital edition on its website Battle.net. If you buy the standard edition it comes with a to-be-announced Star Craft character for Heroes of the Storm.
  • The Digital Deluxe Edition can only be bought on Battle.net and this version offers exclusive add-ons for Blizzard’s other games. These add-ons include a battle pet in World of Warcraft, a Protoss-themed card back for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, a Void Seeker in Heroes of the Storm, and Protoss-themed portraits and unit skins for Star Craft II. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $60.
  • The Collector’s Edition is retail-exclusive and contains all previously mentioned special feature, but also includes a copy of the Star Craft Field Manual, the soundtrack for Star Craft II: Legacy of the Void, and a DVD containing several never-before-seen features.

Star Craft II: Legacy of the Void will be released some time this fall/holiday season.
