Idris Elba, who will be playing an unspecified villain in the upcoming Star Trek film, says he is excited to film several scenes with Zachary Quinto’s Spock.

[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]dris Elba has started working on the third installment in the Star Trek franchise. The movie, titled Star Trek Beyond, will be reuniting Chris Pine, Simon Pegg and Zachary Quinto again. According to the Luther actor, the film has a lot to offer and he is excited to be a part of it considering that he is a Trekkie himself.
“Almost everyone was a Trekkie, really, weren’t they?” said Idris. “I wouldn’t say I was a hardcore one but I definitely watched that show a million times, Spock was probably my favorite character – and in this one I have some scenes with Zachary Quinto [who plays Spock]”.
Idris Elba just recently began to enjoying the spotlight. After starring in the show The Wire, Idris Elba began starring in multiple films and movies in both the United States and in the United Kingdom. Right now he has seven projects that are in production, including the role of Tiger Shere Khan in Jon Favreau’s Jungle Book. With the way things are going, Idris Elba shows no signs of slowing down. In an interview with Radio Times he said:
“I think for the last five years my career has really intensified and I’m a career person, so I’m going to ride that wave – and then I’ll slow down because my body will tell me to relax a bit more,” he said. “But there are loads of roles I’d like to play – as an actor I’m still growing. As long as I have an audience that enjoys watching me, I’ll keep on doing it. I’m never going to stop acting, I love it too much. I just want to keep the variety there.”
