Dwayne Johnson confirms that he will reprise his role as Hobbs in Furious 8.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he action film star, Dwayne Johnson, has certainly made quite the addition to the already explosive Fast and Furious franchise with his role as the hard-hitting Diplomatic Security Service agent Hobbs. Even after arriving late to the series he was able to quickly win over audiences with his comedic quips and extra small shirts.
Johnson was asked in a recent press conference for San Andreas whether Hobbs would be returning for the 8th installment of the series, to which he replied “Of course. It can’t go on without Hobbs.” I couldn’t disagree with him even if I wanted to, because he scares me, and he’s right. Hobbs is terrific.
In addition to signing on for Furious 8, Johnson also spoke to the rumors surrounding a Hobbs spin-off film taking place between Fast Six and Furious 7 saying “We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we’ll see.” Cross your fingers, all of you, right now. Certainly Universal has made enough off of Furious 7 to not even hesitate, right? Let us hope.
Furious 8 has a targeted release date of April 14, 2017 and so far only Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson are on-board. We’ll keep you updated as things develop.
