Valve gives the developer the power to remove foul players at their will.
[dropcap size=small]C[/dropcap]heaters, we all hate them, but what can we really do to stop them in the video game world? The Valve Corporation (or Valve) has an Anti-cheat software solution VAC, and its great at catching those dirty cheaters, but it doesn’t get everyone. Unfortunately there is always going to be someone out there that’s going to ruin your online multi-player experience, or is there?
Valve has recently announced developers can now create their own system to catch and ban disruptive players who uses cheats forever! Developers will have to ask Valve for permission, but hey its a start.
“Game developers inform Valve when a disruptive player has been detected in their game, and Valve applies the game ban to the account. The game developer is solely responsible for the decision to apply a game ban. Valve only enforces the game ban as instructed by the game developer.”
Anyone who has been banned and would like to fight the ban they will have to contact the developers of the game and plead their case. Developers will have to be approved by Valve to use the system, and will refuse/revoke access to developers that might be abusing the system.
