Deadpool is changing the superhero movie game in a great way
With the success that the Deadpool movie has pulled in, its nice to see that the X-Men producers, like Simon Kinberg, are looking at ways to bring more stories from the X-Men universe to the big screen.
Deadpool broke tons of opening weekend records, including but not limited to highest domestic opening of and R-rated movie ever and any release from 20th Century Fox. Making 130 million in its first weekend, Deadpool is looking to change our perception of comic book movies, and really open up a door for more stories to be told on the big screen.
It makes sense to believe that R-rated super hero movies may not do as well as their PG-13 counterparts. So throwing an R-rated Deadpool movie into the mix was a bit of a gamble, one that clearly paid off. It really destroys the conventional idea that superhero movies have to be a set way to get fans attention. So when being asked about future R-rated X-Men and more specifically an R-rated X-Force movie, Kinberg had this to say:
“I think there are some stories that could be R-rated. I don’t know what they are, I mean I think the mainline X-men Movies have their own tone, which is a more operatic tone. It’s more dramatic, its more PG-13 in a way. X-force I could see being R-rated, and who knows?”
With the poster child of the X-Force, Cable already announced to be on the way its not that far of a stretch to be getting an X-Force movie in the next few years. With Darker stories and a more violent team, X-Force is a perfect candidate for Fox’s next R-rated X-men movie.
