“We chose Amazon because they believe in our community, they share our values and long-term vision, and they want to help us get there faster.”

[dropcap size=small]B[/dropcap]y now you have likely heard the news that Twitch was purchased by Amazon for $970 Million. Speculation about Twitch’s purchase had been floating around for some time, after rumors circulated that Google had the streaming company in their sights willing to shell out a whopping $1 Billion. Naturally many were up-in-arms about this, after all the criticisms from YouTube changing and the need to have a Google+ account for new YouTube subscribers. With that said, fans of Twitch needn’t worry, as Amazon has no desire to change how Twitch does business.

“We’re keeping most everything the same: our office, our employees, our brand, and most importantly our independence. But with Amazon’s support we’ll have the resources to bring you an even better Twitch.”

In an email to Twitch subscribers from Emmett Shear, the CEO of Twitch, he goes on to talk about the shared idealisms and passions the two companies have, and if Google buying YouTube was any indication of how Twitch would have ended up, there is one giant sigh of relief to be had about fans of the streaming site. Read the complete letter below.
