The latest trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage is here and we are torn on how to feel about it. Visually, Carnage looks impressive (how Cletus transforms leaves much to be desired) but the jokes? Yeah, we could do without those. Anyway, check out the trailer below and see for yourself what we mean.
Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as the lethal protector Venom, one of MARVEL’s greatest and most complex characters. Directed by Andy Serkis, the film also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, and Woody Harrelson, in the role of the villain Cletus Kasady/Carnage. Not going to lie, some of the visuals for Carnage look pretty sick but others look more like an early 2000s superhero flick. The humor, on the other hand, doesn’t really land with me. It’s like the movie wants to be an insanely violent horror flick that pushes the R-Rating visually, but then dumbs it all down with middle-school humor for the sake of getting that sweet PG-13 box office money.
Sony also appears to be playing the release date really close to the chest by saying “exclusively in movie theaters this fall” but not giving a specific day. With fall right around the corner, it seems odd that they are waiting until the last literal minute to announce when people can see the film but whatever, #JustPandemicThings.
