Transfromers 4 Studio Being Sued for Not Having Enough Product Placement

At this rate, Transformers 5 will just be a three-hour-long Bud Light commercial.

Besides from being the cinematic equivalent of a dumpster fire, Transformers: Age of Extinction has perhaps some of the most horrendous and blatant product placement in recent memory.

For example:

Despite this, it appears as though the film didn’t have enough product placement, as Paramount Pictures is being sued for not including a specific logo in the film.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Paramount failed to include the logo for the Chinese company Wulong Karst Tourism in Age of Extinction, a deal which gave the studio $750,000. Paramount is now facing a $27 million lawsuit .

The studio acknowledges they didn’t include the logo in the film, but to make for it, they (apparently) had director Michael Bay shoot a commercial for Wulong Karst. The company didn’t accept this trade-off.

While this whole situation is hilarious, it’s a potentially very damaging one for Paramount. China is obviously one of the world’s largest film markets, especially for big action flicks like Age of Extinction (the film grossed over $300 million there), so this lawsuit could sever ties between the studio and Chinese companies willing to fund more Transformers films.

Then again, I think we’d be fine with less of those.

And don’t forget to drink Bud Light! Party right with Bud Light!
