[dropcap size=small]S[/dropcap]ony and Team Ico’s (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus) latest effort, The Last Guardian, continues to move forward, albeit very, very…….very slowly. Director Fumito Ueda spoke on some new developments in the game’s progress in this week’s issue of Dengeki Playstation, stating that the game is now moving forward under “completely new conditions.”In the publication, Ueda states:

[dropcap size=small][/dropcap]Talks with Sony Computer Entertainment on The Last Guardian have been ironed out, and we’re making progress under completely new conditions. I’m also working on some other things that I’ll hopefully be able to show in time if progress is smooth.”

As to what those “new conditions” are– it’s not elaborated on, but speculation suggests that The Last Guardian is transitioning from a PlayStaion 3 title to PlayStation 4, which would make sense considering Team Ico’s devotion to stunning and unparalleled visuals.

The game was first announced way back in 2009 as a PS3 title, and has made slow progress for years since. The game has even gone through a “reengineering,” though it was never made clear as to what that encompassed.

Let’s just hope we see the game before they have to start reworking it for PlayStation 5.

The Last Guardian is due out for release…someday.
