Of Tom Holland’s six contracted movies as Spider-Man, three of them are stand-alone films.
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]hile Sony may have let Marvel heavily influence their latest Spider-Man film (let’s be honest here, it’s definitely a Marvel film with Sony’s name attached to it), it appears that Sony is only allowing Marvel to use New York’s favorite web-slinger in 3 of their own films. When The Hollywood Reporter asked Kevin Feige about this the CEO of Marvel responded with, “That’s as far as it goes for now.”
Kevin Feige has stated that Marvel wants to use Spidey in as many films as Sony will allow them to and as of right now that means we can expect to see him all the way up to the fourth Avengers film. Meanwhile, Marvel has made it abundantly clear that they are distancing themselves from Sony’s plans to do multiple Spider-Man spin-off films. Recently Sony had announced that they were going forward with a Venom film but the film wouldn’t follow Venom’s comic book origins. Just as to how Sony will explain Venom’s origins and how these Spider-Man spin-offs films will affect Spider-Man remains to be seen. All things considered, it wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel strong armed Sony into keeping their spin-off films clear of Spider-Man.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released in theaters on July 7.
