Sony Pictures Entertainment has recently released an impressive new trailer for their upcoming Kraven the Hunter film, and for the first time, fans are genuinely excited. The trailer showcases a darker, more violent, and bloodier tone than anything we’ve seen from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (Spider-Man not included). Take a look at the trailer for yourself and see why we are actually now kind of sort of looking forward to seeing this film, and in theaters no less!

As you can see, this tonal shift is a stark departure from the studio’s previous entries, which were met with widespread criticism, particularly after the disastrous reception of Jared Leto’s Morbius and the laughably bad Madam Web starring Dakota Johnson. Of course, neither of those films were movies anyone asked for and there was a lot more working against them than just their PG-13 ratings. That said, it seems that Kraven the Hunter will receive an R rating, something it appears to want to take full advantage of. And it looks like its working.

Speaking of Morbius and Madam Web, recent reports suggest that Kraven the Hunter underwent significant reshoots following the poor performance of these films, signaling that Sony may be trying to step things up. The studio appears to be course-correcting in a bid to avoid another flop and box office bomb, not to mention the endless onslaught of memes, jokes, and criticism both movies continue to be getting online. Fans are now cautiously optimistic that Kraven the Hunter might be the movie that puts Sony’s Spider-Man Universe on a better track.

What’s particularly exciting about this trailer is how it wants to show the audience just how true to the character’s roots its working to retain. The brutal, no-holds-barred portrayal of Kraven feels authentic and has resonated with fans who have longed to see the character’s darker side explored on screen. Additionally, the trailer also reveals a rather intriguing action sequence featuring The Rhino, another major villain from Spider-Man’s rogues’ gallery. Despite Spider-Man’s absence, the appearance of these iconic villains is a tantalizing prospect for fans.

Sony Pictures Entertainment

For the first time, there’s genuine excitement surrounding *Kraven the Hunter*, and many are now actually interested in seeing it in theaters. This new trailer has ignited hope that Sony might finally be on the right track, delivering a film that could potentially reignite interest in its Spider-Man Universe.

Kraven The Hunter hits theaters this December but as we inch closer toward the holiday season, it would be helpful to get an actual release date so we can put it on our calendars.
