Marvel’s top competitor? Look out DC!
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]ith all of the movies coming out from Marvel and DC, it comes to no surprise that someone else has taken it upon themselves to make a superhero movie of their own. In this case, Russia released the first trailer for their movie, The Guardians (foreign titled Zaschitniki).
Zaschitniki will be Russia’s form of Marvel’s The Avengers, the movie is directed by Armenian director Sarik Andreasyan and starring Sebastien Sisak, Anton Pampuchniy, Sanzhar Madiev, Alina Lanina, Valeria Shkirando and Stanislav Shirin. The plot centers around a group of superheroes named ‘Patriot’ made around characters with different nationalities. Check out the trailer above.
The Guardians reported budget is around 330 million Russian Rubble, which is estimated to $5 million. Not even close to the amount of The Avengers and Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Movie director Sarik Andreasyan is best known for his American movie American Heist, starring Hayden Christensen and Adrien Brody.
If you ask me, I thought an idea like this would’ve come out a long time ago for any country. It’s good to see that others outside of the U.S. are creating ideas for new superheroes. Although the budget isn’t anything close to what Marvel or DC spend, but it may not need to spend that much to become popular. Despite the movie not coming out until February 23rd, 2017, a sequel has already started development. China is looking for more import movies to bring in and their distributor company, Turbo Films, will team up with Russian production company Enjoy Movies to produce the sequel together.Â
