Capcom announced that RE7 will also be available for Xbox One and PC!

[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]mong all of the game titles that were announced at E3 this last week, Resident Evil 7 was announced for all current platforms (except Nintendo.) The trailer can be seen below.

Although there isn’t be a VR version, PSN has a demo version of RE7 for free for those who have purchased Playstation Plus. According to Sony’s Shawn Layden, VR will be an option for the game upon completion (if you’re really into scary games, you better get that version!)

In terms of mechanics for the game, producer Masachika Kawata talked about all the different options, including during combat.

One of the main gameplay elements that is not in [the demo] is, as you stated, combat. In the final game, of course, there will be many types of game mechanics including combat, perhaps some gun-play. One of the things I would like to emphasize about this is that it’s not always about going in guns blazing. It might actually be to your advantage to try to run away from combat at certain times, or use items against your enemies in a different way. This is to say that trying to survive the horror, the survival horror, is a key element to Resident Evil 7.

Kawata continued by saying the demo was created to “convey just what type of feeling you would get from the game. In the actual game, one thing that you’ll notice first and foremost is that the scale and scope of the game is much bigger than demonstrations.”

This game will be a first-person game, which Kawata said will “give players the best advantage to experience the horror.” He went on and said that there won’t be any barrier between you and the ambush that could present itself when you are attacked. This includes “exploration and gimmicks and traps and things like that.”

The reason Kawata decided to turn the franchise back to a horror setting is because “one of the main driving factors was listening to the desire of consumers. Consumers have often told us very strongly, very passionately, that they want a return to horror.”

Kawata has yet to reveal who the main character will be in the game, but he says that we shouldn’t be surprised if the main character isn’t a famous celebrity. He also said that herbs will be in the game, as well as an item in the demo that will reveal more about the game. RE7 will be apart of the Resident Evil universe and timeline.

Resident Evil 7 is scheduled to be released on January 24, 2017!
