Bryan Singer will apparently direct the unknown sequel.

It looks like a new X-Men film will begin production in 2017.

Den of Geek reports that another entry in the long-running X-Men film series will shoot sometime two years from now.

This news was initially cited through Le Journal de Montreal, which states the new movie will be filmed in Montreal, under the direction of X-Men veteran Bryan Singer.

This news fits in with 20th Century Fox’s release calendar, which currently has July 13, 2018 reserved for an untitled and unknown X-Men film.

However, it’s possible that Singer will not be directing this mystery mutant film. He is currently set to direct a remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but this can always be pushed or pulled.

The X-Men film series currently spans seven films over 15 years, and is still going strong.

Four films are currently in production: X-Men Apocalypse, coming May 27, 2016, Deadpool, coming February 12, 2016, Gambit, which is expected to come October 7, 2016 (maybe), and a third solo Wolverine flick, set for 2017.

So what will this new film be?

Well, it could be the New Mutants adaptation, which will be helmed by The Fault in Our Star director Josh Boone.

Or, it could be that rumored X-Force movie, which will feature the fan-favorite Cable.

OR, it could be something we don’t know about. A proper Apocalypse sequel? Deadpool 2? A Fant4stic crossover?!?

Whatever it is, we’ll be sure to let you know.
