The Return of Two Legends of Batman History
Kevin Conroy and Bruce Timm are two huge reasons why Batman and Harley Quinn will draw fans of the beloved Batman: The Animated Series. Kevin is very popular among Batman fans for his voice acting role as Batman in a variety of shows and films such as Batman: the Animated Series and Batman: The Killing Joke. Bruce played a huge role in the production of Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, and Superman: Doomsday. The combination of Bruce’s talent as a producer and Kevin’s fantastic voice as our favorite caped crusader will make fans of DC animated films feel right at home.
The New Voice of Harley Quinn
Melissa Rauch, star in the hit show Big Bang Theory, will voice Harley Quinn. Arleen Sorkin or Tara Strong are not taking on the role of Harley Quinn; however Melissa sounds very confident in her ability to deliver a strong punch line to every joke. Melissa’s description of her preparation for the role adds a little more assurance due to the fact she has paid close attention to Harley Quinn’s iconic New York accent. How do you feel about the absence of Arleen or Tara for the role of Harley Quinn? Do you think Melissa will be up to the task of voicing Harley?
The Plot Direction of Batman and Harley Quinn
The plot of this film involves an unlikely alliance between Batman, Nightwing, and Harley Quinn. Their objective is to stop a global disaster created by Poison Ivy and the Floronic Man (Plant-Master). The information available in regards to what the global threat consists of specifically is pretty vague. However, one can guess Poison Ivy helped create some kind of poison gas or dangerous organism of some kind.
Another thing worth noting is what Loren Lester stated. Loren has a credible background in animated films involving Batman. Loren voiced Robin, Dick Grayson, and Joker for Batman: The Animated Series. Loren said, “We’re not restricted by the networks for this film, so we can take the story and characters in more mature areas, and explore more about them as three dimensional humans beings with feelings and desires that we often couldn’t explore in the series.” What Loren stated isn’t much of a surprise nowadays; because more darker and intimate themes have been explored during the past few years of animated DC film productions.
Batman and Harley Quinn will be released this summer for digital download, Blu-ray, and DVD.
