The first clip of next month’s action comedy has Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart feeling a lot of anxiety.
[dropcap size=small]N[/dropcap]ext year, Jesse Eisenberg will make his debut as merciless killer Lex Luthor, but first, he and Adventureland co-star Kristen Stewart are reuniting to murder some dudes by accident in American Ultra.
Eisenberg stars as Mike, a layabout stoner whose problems are about to get a whole lot bigger than insatiable munchies. After two men try to kill him, Mike finds out that he’s a sleeper agent who has been targeted by authorities. He and his girlfriend Phoebe (Stewart) are forced to go on the run in what could honestly turn out to be one massive hallucination.
Nima Nourizedah only has one other directorial credit, but Project X was certainly an inventive take on the teen party comedy genre, and if that’s anything to go by, American Ultra will be more than just the simple stoner comedy action-adventure spy thriller that the following clip might suggest.
American Ultra hits theaters on August 21st.
