HBO Confirms ‘Deadwood’ Film Script is Being Written

Time for this Western to get a proper ending.

Though HBO is most well-known for Game of Thrones, Deadwood was a HBO Western series that won eight Emmy Awards and one Golden Globe. The show was cancelled before the creator-writer David Milch could produce a proper ending.

For a while now, there were rumors that a Deadwood movie was in the works, and after this year’s Television Critics Association, that changed. HBO’s new president of programming Casey Bloys said “David [Milch] is writing the script. We haven’t read it yet…I imagine it will be very good. I feel good about it.”

Bloys didn’t confirm that the movie has been greenlit, but he did say that he “feels good” about the project.

Rumors of a Deadwood film that would wrap-up the series swirled around the web almost a year ago. It now looks like the movie is happening, and we’re super excited.
