The man who will know Bruce Wayne’s secret comes to town.
Gotham has already introduced a number of classic Batman villains like Penguin, Riddler, Scarecrow, and Harvey Dent.
Now, a new foe for Jim Gordon will emerge through Dr. Hugo Strange, who will be portrayed by B.D. Wong.
Although the Jurassic World actor was recently cast in the role, chances are he won’t be seen until much later into this season.
Wong revealed through his Instagram page that makeup tests were still being done, indicating that how the character will look in the show has not yet been decided.
Even if we don’t see Strange till sometime in 2016, we’re excited for him to come to Gotham.
Dr. Hugo Strange is a criminal scientist/psychologist who has been a contast foe to Batman since his debut in 1940.
In recent years, his defining characteristic is that he’s deducted the identity of Batman as Bruce Wayne; a fact many other villains refuse to believe, as evident in the Batman: The Animated Series episode: “The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne.”
Strange also had a prolific role in the 2011 video game Batman: Arkham City, were he also knew Batman’s secret identity.
Since Gotham takes place long before Bruce dons the cape and cowl, it will be interested to see how Strange is utilized in the series.
Could he be connected to Falcone crime syndicate? Or does he offer psychiatric help to other villains? We don’t, but we can’t wait to find out.
Gotham airs Mondays on Fox.
