A new trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider has been released by Square Enix.

[dropcap size=small]B[/dropcap]ack in 2013, Tomb Raider was released by Square Enix. The game sold one million copies within forty-eight hours of its release, and has sold more than 8.5 million copies as of April of this year. Tomb Raider is currently the best selling game in the franchise to date. However, with this new trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raier, that may change.

The trailer above shows Lara making a hazardous climb up the side of a mountain, overcoming the elements of snow, wind and ice to reach a cave which, judging from the previous games and movies, probably holds “the secrets of the world” and many priceless artifacts. No in-game game play has been revealed yet unfortunately, but you can be sure that more details about the game will be released during Microsofts E3 briefing on June 15th.

During the summer of last year at Gamescom, Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced as an “Xbox Exclusive” for holiday of 2015. Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, later clarified that the exclusivity was only for a certain amount of time, not permanently. Nonetheless, rumours stemming from an Xbox Australia post circulated that suggested that the game was now a full Xbox One exclusive. Once again, Phil Spencer denied these rumors. He responded to these rumors on Twitter saying that nothing has changed.

However, neither Sony nor Square Enix have talked about Rise of the Tomb Raider being available on other platforms. But it is possible that the game could come to Playstation 4 or PC sometime later this year or next spring. More news is sure to follow at E3 later this month.

Rise of the Tomb Raider launches this holiday season exclusively for Xbox One and Xbox 360. The last-gen version is being developed by Nixxes Software.
