Empire Online reveals full ‘Suicide Squad’ Joker

Jared Leto’s Joker can be mistaken as a pimp in Empire Online’s cover photo.

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he Joker’s appearance has generally stayed the same throughout the years since he was first introduced back in 1940. Sure, the actors who have portrayed the character in the movies have changed his physical appearance, that’s bound to happen no matter what, but the Joker’s attire has stayed relatively the same. However, with the upcoming Suicide Squad film that will be released in the fall of next year its safe to say that this Jared Leto’s Joker will be breaking the meta, for lack of a better term.

At first glance Jared Leto’s Joker seems to embody what his character is, a psychotic, bipolar, crazy man who enjoys producing anarchy, terror and mayhem. You could even go so far as to say he looks like a bad-ass. He looks to be in shape with those six-pack abs and he is holding some sort of menacing weapon that produces electricity, fairly intimidating overall.

Everything mentioned before to describe Jared Leto’s Joker just goes out the window once you see this photo. The first word that comes to my mind would be the word pimp, but maybe that’s just me. I would say the purple coat combined with a purple cane and tattoos definitely gives off that impression. David Ayer’s Joker has strayed as far as possible from the usual, common appearance that the Joker has in the comics and animated Batman series. Hopefully Jared Leto’s performance can make up for his lacking appearance.
