The name’s Laufeyson. Loki Lufeyson.
It looks like you can add Thor star and all-around gentleman, Tom Hiddleston to the list of potential Bond candidates, as the actor recently expressed interest in the role.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Hiddleston said that he is a huge fan of the 007 series, even praising Spectre, which he saw while filming Kong: Skull Island. Hiddleston explained:
“I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing. If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity. And I’m very aware of the physicality of the job. I would not take it lightly.”
Hiddleston has he appears in Thor: The Dark World.Â
It’s unknown if the current Bond, Daniel Craig, will reprise the role for future films. Recently, actor Mark Strong disclosed that he believes Craig (his close friend) is done portraying Bond and ready to move on. Craig has yet to reveal whether or he’ll star in another 007 film.
We’d love to see the charismatic Hiddleston wear a tux and order shaken martinis, but he’s now one of many actors who’ve been rumored for the role.
There has been lots of speculation that Tom Hardy or Idris Elba may be potential Bond candidates, but nothing official has ever been discussed, and again, Craig is still Bond.
Whoever the next Bond may be, we have faith he’ll have the charm and mystique we’ve come to expect from the character.
