Agent Coulson meeting Daniel Rand would mean big things for the MCU.Â
The Marvel Cinematic Universe on Netflix continues to grow, with the second season of Daredevil set to premiere on March 18, Luke Cage coming in September, and an Iron Fist series now in development.Â
The Iron Fist series, which recently cast Finn Jones as the titular character, has gotten one MCU veteran very excited, as apparently Clark Gregg, or Phil Coulson from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., really wants to meet up with the new character.
Marvel TV producer Jeph Loeb recently told ComicBookResource that Gregg is a huge Iron Fist fanboy.Â
“Before I get done, I have to make sure that Clark Gregg and Iron Fist get together,” explained Loeb. “I’m not saying Agent Coulson — Clark Gregg has actually made me promise that he gets to meet Iron Fist. He’s a gigantic Iron Fist fan.”
If this crossover were to happen, it would have huge implications for the MCU as a whole. Coulson meeting Iron Fist would mark the first Netflix/ABC Marvel character crossover, and to a greater extent, the first time a character that has appeared in multiple MCU films meets a Marvel Netflix character.
Both Daredevil and Jessica Jones have very little connections to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe, outside of a few references to the destruction of New York City seen in The Avengers, so the crossover would act as confirmation that the Netflix characters do indeed reside in the same universe as Iron Man or Captain America.Â
Regardless, we love Clark Gregg, and we hope his dream comes true.
