Good news for people who like their anime characters loud, misunderstood, and maybe just a little obsessed: Bad Girl (stylized as BADGIRL) is crashing into HIDIVE’s Summer 2025 simulcast lineup like a delinquent with a heart of gold. AMC Networks’ HIDIVE announced that the new comedy series will begin streaming exclusively on July 5, which gives you just enough time to emotionally prepare yourself for a summer of chaos, comedy, and unrequited girl crushes.
But wait, there’s more. The service is going all out by premiering not just one, but two episodes of Bad Girl during Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles on July 4. Because nothing screams “patriotism” quite like watching a teenage girl pretend to be a punk just to impress the head of the disciplinary committee.

“Bad Girl is guaranteed to entertain fans all summer long!” claimed HIDIVE President John Ledford, in what we can only assume was said while cackling over a pile of upcoming subscription numbers. “With each episode, the series offers viewers a fresh new dose of uproarious high school antics.” Translation: there will be chaos, it will be hilarious, and nobody is emotionally ready.
So who’s the baddest girl in question? That would be Yu Yutani, a first-year student with intense eyes, loud piercings, and a hairstyle that practically screams please discipline me. Despite looking like she headlined a punk concert, Yu is actually a wholesome sweetheart whose main hobby is quietly losing her mind over Atori Mizutori, the school’s beautiful, popular, and no-nonsense Madonna-like hall monitor. So naturally, Yu ditches her honor student status and reinvents herself as a “bad girl” in a not-so-subtle attempt to win Atori’s attention. Think Mean Girls meets Yuri on Ice, but with more nose piercings.
Adapted from the cult-favorite manga by Nikumaru, Bad Girl comes courtesy of director Jōji Furuta (Seven Deadly Sins), writer Shōji Yonemura (Fairy Tail), character designer Yuki Morimoto, and animation studio Bridge, which has quietly been cranking out polished chaos for years. The cast includes Azusa Tachibana as Yu Yutani, Niina Hanamiya as Atori Mizutori, Misato Matsuoka as Suzuka Suzukaze, and Miharu Hanai as Rura Ruriha—so get ready to hear your next anime obsession in crystal-clear summer stereo.
So yeah, mark your calendar, dust off your HIDIVE login, and prep your heart. Bad Girl is coming, and she’s ready to ruin your life in the most lovable way possible.
