Phase 3 just got a little smaller?
Marvel Studios has just revealed that a sequel to Ant-Man is set to release summer 2018.
The sequel will be titled Ant-Man and the Wasp, which Marvel is touting as “the first Marvel Studios film named after its heroine.” About time too!
The release of Ant-Man and Wasp means that a couple of Phase 3 films have had their release dates rearranged, specifically, Black Panther, which will now release on Feburary 16, 2018 (originally July 6, 2018), and Captain Marvel, which will now come to theaters on March 8, 2019 (originally November 2, 2018).
In their official press release, Marvel Studios shared that Ant-Man has made $409.8 million worldwide, and is the #9 film of the year domestically, numbers which no doubt influenced Marvel to fast track a sequel.
Finally, Marvel also revealed that three untitled films will release on May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and November 6, 2020. Let the speculation begin as to what they will be. (Spider-Man Sequel? Guardians 3?)
We loved Ant-Man, and we can’t wait to see Scott and Hope kick butt together.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will come to theaters on July 6, 2018.
