The newest expansion for World of Warcraft, titled Legion, enters beta testing later this year!
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]t was during Blizzard Entertainment’s conference at Gamescom 2015 that the company announced the sixth expansion for World of Warcraft. The latest expansion is called Legion, and the expansion will add more updates like raising the level cap to 110, a new class will be called Demon Hunter, and a new continent by the name of The Broken Isles will be available. Here is an extended list of what the Legion expansion includes:
- Artifacts: customizable weapons that grow in power as you do
- Class-specific Order Halls and followers
- Revamped PvP progression system
- New class: Demon Hunter
- Improved social features
- Improved transmogrification system
- All New Dungeons and Raids
- Character Boost–immediately raise one character to level 100
- Raises level cap to 110
- New World Bosses

The Demon Hunter class is an incredibly unique class that brings something new to the battlefields of Warcraft. A Demon Hunter has the ability to double-jump and a Demon Hunter can execute flying/gliding attacks on enemies from above to surprise them. Demon Hunters are also blind, so they use “magically augmented sight” to see. Blizzard was quit excited about the new class:
“Dominate your foes as a Demon Hunter, an elven outcast shunned for daring to wield the terrible powers of the Legion. Exhibiting superior mobility and a preternatural sense of awareness, Demon Hunters can tap into forbidden powers at times of dire need, metamorphosing into terrifying fel forms. Focus on Havoc to demolish any who stand in your way with fiery demonic attacks, or specialize in Vengeance and go toe to toe with even the most powerful demons, withstanding massive punishment as their attacks fuel your hatred.”
The image above is a map of The Broken Isles, a new continent that will be added with the Legion expansion. The new continent is similar to an archipelago and has mountain ranges and forests. Of course, The Broken Isles will feature monsters old and new alike. Blizzard went into detail regarding the new continent by saying:
“Twisted satyrs, savage drogbar, and cursed Kvaldir prowl the Isles alongside the Legion’s marauding army. To overcome these threats, you will claim an Order Hall unique to your character class and lead your followers on a hunt for the Pillars of Creation–the secret to Azeroth’s salvation.”
The announcement of a new expansion for World of Warcraft is a smart move on Blizzard’s part after 1.5 million subscribers left in the past three months. Maybe with a new expansion on the way the company will not only entice its lost subscribers to return, but draw in new ones as well!
