[dropcap size=small]S[/dropcap]omeone’s jimmies are rustled over not being invited to star in the new Ghostbusters film. Ernie Hudson, now 68-years-old, played Winston Zeddemore in the original Ghostbusters (1984), and for those of you who haven’t heard, director Paul Feig has announced that he’s writing a new Ghostbusters flick starring an all-female cast. Here’s what Ernie had to say on the matter:
“I heard it was going to be a total reboot, and that it would have nothing to do with the other two movies,” he said. “If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it’s all female, then why are you calling it Ghostbusters? I love females. I hope that if they go that way at least they’ll be funny, and if they’re not funny at least hopefully it’ll be sexy. I love the idea of including women, I think that’s great. But all-female I think would be a bad idea. I don’t think the fans want to see that. Maybe it will come out and be the most amazing thing, but in my opinion I think it would be wrong to do another movie that didn’t include the guys. And that didn’t include me!”
You know that feeling when all your boys get invited to that rad party? The one with the girl you like? And you weren’t invited? So you cry alone in your room? You question if they’re even your friends and listen to Simple Plan because you’re 16 and your life is in shambles? Yeah, that feeling, Ernie’s got it bad. There’s something a little unsettling about the make-it-sexy-if-it’s-not-funny comment. Thanks for the request, Ernie, but I’m sure it’ll be both. STUPID. Don’t tell me what I want and don’t want.
What are your thoughts on the all-chick Ghostbusters film? We can’t wait.
No official casting announcements have been made for the upcoming Ghostbusters film, though the typical ensemble including Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are a good bet along with many random cameos. Jon Hamm, Steve Carell, and Bill Murray all seem likely. The film is scheduled TBD 2015.
Please. No Megan Fox, though.
