Spring is here, which means convention season is gearing up, and Toei Animation is pleased to announce that ONE PIECE will be docking in Mexico City for CCXPMX26, running April 24–26. For the first time ever, the legendary studio is bringing a full-blown ONE PIECE exhibition to CCXP Mexico, proving that after more than 26 years, Monkey D. Luffy is still finding new places to stretch his arms into.

Created by Eiichiro Oda, ONE PIECE has been running long enough to legally rent a car, and somehow it’s still one of the biggest anime franchises on the planet. At this year’s festival, fans won’t just get a poster and a handshake. Toei is setting up a large-scale booth on the show floor along with a special screening of episodes 913 and 914 in Spanish dub on the Thunder Stage, courtesy of Cinemex. There will also be giveaways for fans willing to fill out a quick survey, including the most on-brand prize imaginable: straw hats for the first 200 people who complete it on Saturday. Nothing says commitment to a fandom like free headwear you will absolutely wear once and then display forever.

According to Lisa Yamatoya, Senior Director and Head of Marketing for Toei Animation Inc., the event is meant to be both a thank-you to longtime Mexican fans and a gateway for newcomers. In other words, if you somehow made it this far in life without watching ONE PIECE, they intend to fix that before the weekend is over. Considering the series has been running since 1999, that’s less of an invitation and more of a cultural intervention.

For anyone who has managed to avoid the phenomenon entirely, ONE PIECE follows Luffy and his crew of pirates searching for the legendary treasure of Gol D. Roger, former King of the Pirates. Over the last quarter century, that simple premise has expanded into a franchise that now includes 15 movies, multiple video games, a trading card game, mountains of merchandise, and enough episodes to qualify as a long-term life commitment.

As if that wasn’t enough, the anime itself is about to launch into its next storyline. The series returns April 5 with the start of the Elbaph arc, continuing the never-ending adventure that has somehow outlived several entire anime eras. Toei Animation’s Los Angeles office will continue distributing the show in English, Spanish, and Portuguese across North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and beyond, ensuring that no matter where you live, Luffy is probably already on your screen, or about to be.
