Legendary anime studio and industry leader Toei Animation has announced that One Piece, the long-running and globally beloved series created by Eiichiro Oda, will take a break from regular production starting today, Sunday, October 13, following the release of Episode 1122. Fans can expect new episodes from the Egghead arc to return in April 2025, with a new regular time slot to be revealed at Jump Festa 2025, taking place on Sunday, December 22, 2024.
During this production hiatus, Toei Animation has prepared fresh One Piece content to air weekly, maintaining the series’ current broadcast schedule.
First, on Sunday, October 20, at 9:30 a.m. JST, Toei Animation will release ONE PIECE FAN LETTER, a special 25th-anniversary episode commemorating the series. This 30-minute ensemble drama depicts the reunion of the Straw Hat crew from the perspective of non-pirate characters. Set in the Sabaody Archipelago after the Paramount War, the episode follows a young girl who admires Nami as she embarks on a small adventure.
Following this, Toei Animation will launch the One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga starting on Sunday, October 27, at 9:30 a.m. JST with Episode 1. New episodes will air weekly at the same time, with the final episode scheduled for Sunday, March 30. One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga is a special re-edited version of the original Fish-Man Island arc, which originally aired between 2011 and 2012.
This abridged 21-episode arc features re-shot scenes, new animation sequences, and updated opening and ending themes. The arc showcases a contemporary visual style and will be recorded in Dolby Atmos for enhanced audio quality. The new opening theme, “We Go!” by Kitadani Hiroshi, will be performed in collaboration with special guests, while the new ending theme, “Sailing” (Episodic Version), will be sung by BE:FIRST.
Fans can look forward to enjoying this new content during the hiatus as they anticipate the return of One Piece next year.
