Legendary anime studio Toei Animation returns to New York Comic Con (NYCC) this year with a triple celebration of its iconic franchises: Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Digimon. At NYCC 2024, Toei Animation will showcase these fan-favorite properties with a mix of celebrity guest panels and immersive fan experiences.
The Toei Animation exhibit booth (#2635) will feature two pop-up shops, including the highly popular Toei Animation X Dim Mak Pop-Up Shop, offering a curated selection of One Piece merchandise such as hoodies, t-shirts, shorts, and exclusive NYCC releases. These include a Straw Hats crew puffer tote bag, an Egghead Luffy skate deck, and an enamel pin collection.
For the first time at NYCC, Toei Animation will also present the Mugiwara Store Pop-Up Shop, a recreation of the famous Japanese retail concept and the world’s largest official One Piece store. This pop-up will feature exclusive One Piece merchandise previously available only in Japan, including several items from the new Harajuku store. Fans can explore these unique shopping experiences within the Toei Animation booth throughout NYCC during regular show hours.
Toei Animation’s NYCC 2024 panel schedule begins with the Dragon Ball DAIMA Special Panel on Day One, Thursday, October 17, at 12:45 p.m. on the Empire Stage. In celebration of Dragon Ball’s 40th anniversary, Toei Animation will share insights into the creation of the exciting new world of Dragon Ball DAIMA. The panel will be hosted by Monica Rial (the English voice of Bulma) and will feature Akio Iyoku (Executive Producer of Dragon Ball DAIMA) and other special guests. Attendees will also enjoy an encore screening of the premiere episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA with English subtitles before the panel discussion.
Later that day at 3:30 p.m. in Room 409, Toei Animation will present the Digimon Adventure Panel. Fans can look forward to hearing from Hiromi Seki, a Digimon legend and the “Mother of Sunday Morning Anime.” Seki, who has been involved with the franchise since its inception and served as producer of both the original Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02, will discuss the past, present, and future of Digimon Adventure alongside host Justin Rojas.
On Day Two, Friday, October 18, at 12:45 p.m. on the Empire Stage, Toei Animation will host the One Piece Panel. Producer Ryuta Koike, Series Director Satoshi Ito, and Creative Director Masayuki Takagi—the creative team behind the beloved One Piece series—will join host Jacki Jing to talk about the animation process and behind-the-scenes stories from the show. They will be joined by English dub cast members Colleen Clinkenbeard (voice of Luffy) and Christopher Sabat (voice of Zoro).
Attendees are encouraged to share their experiences using the hashtag #TA_NYCC for both the panels and the exhibition booth.
