[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]fter being in theaters for four weeks, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy still remains atop the charts. This weekend, the fan favorite was able to reestablish its dominance by earning roughly $19m domestic to add to a total of $489m worldwide. A total like that makes it the highest grossing movie (domestic) of the summer, and soon to be year once it inevitably surpasses Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It’s been a good year for Marvel, Kevin Feige must be feeling pretty good right now.

In at number two is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with $18m domestic for a total of $239m worldwide. Despite the bad reviews from critics, this new take on the classic TMNT seems to be consistently holding its own at the box office with this drop being its first since the film released three weeks ago.

Warner Bros. newcomer If I Stay, a drama about a girl (played by Chloe Grace Moretz) involved in a car accident that goes into a coma and has an out-of-body-experience, lands at number three this weekend bringing in $16m domestic.

The comedy Let’s Be Cops managed earnings of $11m domestic, putting it at number four.

Unbelievably absent from the top five this weekend is the sequel to 2005’s Sin City, Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill ForSin City might not have made the cut, but a film I’ve never heard of before called When the Game Stands Tall did. The movie about a football team and their winning streak took the number five spot in the domestic box office making $9m.
