The upcoming Bond movie, and last film in the franchise to star Daniel Craig, has been abruptly delayed. It was announced today that No Time to Die will now release on November 25, 2020, instead of April 10, 2020.

MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced today that after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace, the release of No Time to Die will be postponed until November 2020,” reads a statement issued on the 007 Twitter.

While not mentioned in the official statement, it’s pretty easy to read between the lines and see why the film was delayed. Globally, the coronavirus 2019-2020 outbreak (COVID-19) is still ongoing, with China, the biggest movie market in the world, currently being affected the worst as the country of origin.

While no doubt a very costly move, MGM, Universal, and the Bond producers have decided that its possible the outbreak will be less severe come November, and more people across the globe will be willing to go see the latest bond film then.

No Time to Die hits theaters on November 25.
