Fox has plans for everyone’s favorite shimmering naked spaceman.
With Disney set to purchase 20th Century Fox, you’d think the latter would start winding down its Marvel movie output. BUT NOPE! The Hollwood Reporter has detailed a very extensive lineup of Marvel films Fox is developing and releasing over the next few years.
While most of these films are things we already know about (Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix are happening this year, Gambit still needs a director, and X-Force is set to film this October), there were some interesting new tidbits.
For example, The New Mutants, which had a scary teaser last October, has been delayed from this April to February 2019. Apparently the film will undergo additional shooting this summer which includes the addition of a new character. Yeah this is never a good sign, but let’s stay optimistic here.
Perhaps the most interesting reveal is that Brian K. Vaughn, creator of the outstanding comic series Saga, is developing a Silver Surfer movie.
The Silver Surfer is a humanoid alien who can travel at light speed on his glistening surf board. He lives to serve Galactus, the planet-consuming cosmic entity who has been a staple of Marvel Comics villainy for decades.
The shiny buff wave-rider is perhaps best known outside the comics for his role in the 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. It was just as dumb as the first Fantastic Four, but somehow they’re both still better than Fant4stic.

ANYWHO, we’re really skeptical any Marvel film from Fox will get made post 2019 (when the momentum on the Disney deal will start to build) so right now it just seems like Fox is stacking their film slate with superhero movies, which will most likely turn a profit.
Would we like to see a good Silver Surfer movie? Or good Fantastic Four movie for that matter?
Of course, but we’ll just stick to the musical until that happens.
