The Sorcerer Supreme will indeed star in the God of Thunder’s third film.
Looks like we won’t have to wait till Avengers: Infinity War for the return of Stephen Strange.Â
Through a brief synopsis on D23.com, it has been officially confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Doctor Strange for Thor: Ragnarok.Â
Per the synopsis: “Thor: Ragnarok in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new.”
We’ve basically known since the release of Doctor Strange back in November that the titular character would appear in Ragnarok. After all, the mid credit scene featured Thor chatting with Strange in the New York Sanctum, with Strange agreeing to help Thor and Loki find their missing father. A leaked set photo for Ragnarok back in August also hinted that the Sorcerer Supreme would be in the film too. However, we now have official confirmation that Strange will indeed be in Ragnarok in some way.
But how big is his role? Is it just a cameo no greater than the mid credit scene? Will he be a major character, like Hulk supposedly is?Â
We don’t know, but more MCU characters hanging out together outside of Avengers sounds great to us.Â
Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3.
