I wonder if Howard will be able to fit the bill.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has proven that if there’s anything they can use in their arsenal, the MCU will more than likely use it. Howard the Duck’s appearance at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy shocked fans and had them hoping for more of the fowl. Even Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is using a character named Ego the Living Planet and the absurdly named character will be portrayed by Kurt Russell.
Recently at a panel at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in Atlanta, Georgia (via Comicbook.com), one of the stars of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hinted at the return of Howard the Duck:
“As long as there’s a James Gunn directing the film, there’s a possibility of a Howard the Duck” – Dave Bauista
That’s right folks, Dave Bauista, who plays a character named Drax the Destroyer, is one of the two people to spark some hope for Howard the Duck’s return to the MCU. The other person to do such was the director previously mentioned, James Gunn, when he talked with Empire Magazine about the character’s chances on the big screen.
“I’ll be honest with you, I was just talking about it with my assistant right now. It’s possible Howard could reappear as more of a character in the Marvel Universe. But if people think that’s going to lead to a Howard The Duck movie, that’s probably not going to happen in the next four years. Who knows after that?” – James Gunn
Only time will tell if Howard the Duck will dance amongst the cosmos and with how much speculation there is, it seems more than likely he’ll be back. Until further information comes about, enjoy the sneak peek trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 down below.
