Daniel Craig is Still Interested in Playing Bond

Craig reveals he would still take his Martini shaken and not stirred.

[dropcap size=small]S[/dropcap]ometimes an actor will be quoted saying something in a particular moment that folks just won’t let go of. In Daniel Craig’s case, it is undoubtedly his now widely referred to statement that he’d rather “slash his wrists” then play Bond again.

Ever since these infamous words were spoken, the widespread assumption has been that we wouldn’t be seeing Craig as 007 in the future Bond project (currently titled Bond 25.)

Possible names to play the future Bond – such as Tom HiddlestonIdris Alba and Tom Hardy – have been bandied around for sometime now, but Craig may not be leaving his Bond days behind him after all.

Vulture (via Screenrant) reported of an interview with Craig at the New Yorker Festival this month, during which the 48 year-old actor revealed that the “slashing wrists” statement came shortly after he’d finished shooting Spectre.

Craig explained that being away from home for a year – along with the physical demands of the role – led him to denounce the idea of filling 007’s shoes again:

“They say that s**t sticks, and that definitely stuck…It was the day after filming [stopped on Spectre]. I’d been away from home for a year.”

Craig then went on to set the record straight by revealing he is in fact still interested in playing Bond:

“It’s a good gig. I enjoy it. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve got the best job in the world. I’ll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it. If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly.”

So Spectre may not be the last film we’ll see with Craig as Bond.

Rumours recently spread that Craig was offered up to $150 million to reprise the role, and even though this has since been disputed, he’s still sure to make a pretty penny if he does. No director is currently attached to the project since Sam Mendes relinquished his role as director after Spectre, and with very little else revealed about Bond 25, it may be some time before we learn if Craig’s return is set in stone.

Bond 25 is still currently under development with no release date yet announced.
