Old man Logan? More like old man Xavier!
[dropcap size=small]N[/dropcap]ot long after director James Mangold tweeted the first movie poster for the highly anticipated upcoming release of Wolverine 3 (which we finally now know is simply titled ‘Logan‘), Mangold has also given us our first look at Patrick Stewart in his role as Professor X in Wolverine’s final film.
Just like the poster, the director excited fans by tweeting out a striking portrait of Sir Patrick, who paints quite an old picture as Charles Xavier this time around – check it out below:

In-keeping with the gritty style of the recent poster reveal, the black and white photo shows a particularly weathered-looking Professor X – evidently Charles is just as susceptible to the passing of time as the rest of us.
SPOILER WARNING: Potential spoilers ahead!
According to The Wrap, script details have indicated the Professor is “old and not well” in Logan, and the above photo certainly seems to back that up.
Since Logan will follow the story of “old man Logan,” who – according to the recent script reveal – will reportedly have diminished healing capabilities, and suffer from chronic pain and drinking problems, it makes sense that we’d meet a considerably older-looking Xavier too.
With every new bit of information we get about this film, we’re ever the more convinced this will be one to watch out for next year. Let’s hope Mangold treats us to more reveals very soon!
Logan is set to hit the big screens 3 March, 2017.
