Ticket sales are to be announced sometime in the next few weeks.
[dropcap size=small]G[/dropcap]et ready One Piece fans! The thirteenth film in the One Piece series and the first one to hit theaters since 2012 is coming to the United States and Canada. The Funimation Films company bought the animated movie from Toei Animation and plans on releasing the film in select theaters starting on January 10th and ending on January 17th of next year.
One Piece: Gold made $47.8 million at the box office in Japan, making it the sixth highest grossing film this year. With a limited release in the United States and Canada, it appears that the Funimation Film company is confident that the film will be popular enough among anime fans. Gen Fukunaga, who is the CEO and President of Funimation, released a statement following the news and it appears that the CEO is confident that the film will generate a profit.
“Fans have been clamoring for news on ‘One Piece Film: Gold’ and we’re excited to announce that we’ll be bringing this blockbuster movie to U.S. and Canadian audiences. We’re confident that this film will create a new generation of fans for the franchise as well as grow the audience for its animated series.”
