During today’s Apple Live event, Nintendo took the stage to announce ‘Super Mario Run’

In an unexpected turn, Tim Cook took the stage and brought the “father of Nintendo”, Shigeru Miyamoto out to join him to announce a new one-handed playable Mario game, ‘Super Mario Run’, a one-handed side-scrolling coin-collecting game which promises to bring new modes to the Mario franchise in “battle modes” and competitive races to complete levels.

The game has not been given a specific time of release (although it will be available in “holiday 2016”), but the game will be a set-price and not include “pay-to-play” features, so you may play as long and continuously as you want.

What’s more, Super Mario Stickers will be included on launch of iOS 10, making Apple the first legitimate platform to see Mario on anything other than Nintendo’s own home-grown consoles (excluding emulation or hacks, of course).
