Get your first look at the live-action Section 9 members.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he controversial and much-talked about live-action adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s manga and anime Ghost in the Shell is set to hit theatres next year, but since it was announced we’ve only seen Scarlett Johansson (The Major) and Pilou Asbæk (Batou) in costume so far.
Well now it looks as though we’ve finally gotten our first look at the majority of the cast thanks to some leaked photos that have apparently been making the rounds on various Asian sites. Kotaku uncovered the unconfirmed photos of the live-action members of Section 9 on sites such as Ivy2.com and Apple Daily, and they look pretty legitimate.

So far these photos haven’t been made official, but they do look authentic, so we’re thinking they’re the real deal. With all the controversy surrounding the white-washing casting of Scarlett Johnasson, the film has already experienced a huge backlash in the press before it’s even hit theatres.
Even though I’m personally still pretty dubious about this adaptation, in my own opinion I think Yutaka Izumihara nails the look of Saito, Lasarus Ratuere as Ishikawa is pretty solid, and Beat Takeshi looks great as Daisuke Aramaki.
Again, we’ll just have to wait and see if the film does the excellent manga and anime series any justice.
