“All will be judged.”
[dropcap size=small]D[/dropcap]C’s Gotham TV series is returning this September for a third season, with many new and old faces getting in on the latest goings-on in Gotham’s seedy underbelly.
A brand new highlight reel and trailer – which was unveiled at San Diego Comic Con – has been released to tease us with what’s to come.
Check it out below:
Collider learnt some interesting facts about the new season during the SDCC panel with the cast.
The subtitle of the show “Heroes will fall” apparently relates to what the season is doing with Jim Gordon (played by Benjamin McKenzie) and Bruce Wayne (played by David Mazouz). It certainly seem to be the case in some of the highlights where we see Gordon involving himself in some pretty shady antics, and a young Wayne looks to be deciding which path to follow in the wake of his parent’s death.
One of the biggest story arcs is said to revolve around the Court of Owls, a secret society and crime organisation first seen in the comics back in 2011’s Batman #2.
In the trailer we see some villainous faces return such as Mr. Freeze, Hugo Strange and a ‘new and improved’ Fish Mooney.
Comic Book Resources interviewed executive producer John Stephens who revealed some of the other bad guys we’ll also be encountering in the new season:
“We’ll be seeing Mad Hatter in Season 3. We’ll be seeing the Tweedle Brothers, too, if we’re going to bring the Hatter in. In line with the Court of Owls, we’ll be seeing Talon. And, we should be seeing Solomon Grundy.”
Bane could potentially be thrown in to the mix too, since a promo poster uncovered earlier this year (via Cinema Blend) certainly seems to feature a Bane-like figure.
A new Poison Ivy will be introduced who’s said to be pretty different from the Ivy in the comics. Actress Maggie Geha is taking over the role from Clare Foley who played Ivy Pepper previously. Apparently they’re going with idea that Ivy has been reborn as a 25 year old with the mindset and emotions of a 14 or 15 year old – we’ll see how that works out.
Gotham’s return to the small screens certainly seems to have a lot going on, and all these new faces will hopefully royally shake things up for our resident characters.
Gotham’s third season is set to air 19 September, 2016.
