A new teaser trailer and season 5 details!
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]f a character wears a cape, cowl, hood, or even all the above—there was likely news about them at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC). The hooded Green Arrow was no different. The CW’s popular show, Arrow, chronicling the adventures of Oliver Queen and his ensemble of supporting characters, has had four inconsistent seasons. But with passionate talent involved and a devoted audience, there is hope that season 5 can return to the dramatic heights of the Deathstroke storyline. Beware of spoilers below.
Arrow’s SDCC panel shared new information like the confirmation of the return of Katie Cassidy. The show’s treatment of Laurel Lance has been a talking point for the more rabid of fans. Also, season 5’s flashback storyline should improve over last season’s. We will finally see Oliver’s ascension through the ranks of the Russian Mafia. It should be interesting to see how the young Mr. Queen becomes a Bratva Captain.
Other season 5 details included acknowledgement that the Olicity (Oliver/Felicity) relationship drama will continue to be neverending. But one can hope that the production choses to focus on Team Arrow’s three new vigilante additions, like Artemis. One final thing of note is that season 5 will include an impressive milestone. Arrow’s 100th episode will part of the crossover between The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and CW’s newest DC addition, Supergirl. Both a accomplishment of longevity and an unprecedented crossover between four (FOUR!) shows on the network.
Previously, Stephen Amell said the new season would be “F–ing mean” while hyping fight scenes to come. It seems as if the show is returning to its grittier roots from earlier seasons. So along with the newest SDCC panel details fans have plenty to look forward to.
