Destiny players were vastly let down when their favorite rocket launcher, the Gjallarhorn, was left behind in the first year of Destiny. With The Taken King expansion, their disappointment continued with the exotic rocket launcher’s absence from Year 2. The announcement of its return in Rise of Iron (the start of Year 3), fans were ecstatic, or at least the die-hard fans who are still playing the game that is.
But is the announcement of a Gjallarhorn-themed Sparrow enough to get players to flock back to a title that seems to be declining in popularity? It’s hard to tell so early, but many fans on the Destiny subreddit and official Destiny Facebook page have some less than favoring words about the inclusion of the new ride. In any case, regardless of the words of lovers and haters, pre-order bonuses are a heck of a lot better than nothing at all, especially when the exotic rocket launcher is the big draw with pre-ordering Rise of Iron.
Destiny: Rise of Iron releases on September 20, and is available for pre-order now via Playstation Network (PS4 only), and will soon be available for Xbox One players via Xbox Marketplace. No physical copies or collector’s editions will be available for Rise of Iron (digital pre-order only).
