Surprise surprise.Â
Well this may not shock anyone who’s a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it definitely looks like a certain bunch of A-holes will be involved in the upcoming Avengers films.Â
Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the screenwriters of Captain America: Civil War and the incoming aforementioned films, have basically confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy will appear in Avengers: Infinity War.Â
Markus explained the inevitable in an interview with Nerdist:
“Let’s put it this way: you know who owns that Infinity Gauntlet, right? And you know who’s in another movie? And his kids are in that movie… you do the math!”
Indeed sir, we’ve done the math. Assuming Infinity War resembles the Infinity Gauntlet storyline from the comics (and it certainly looks like it will), the Mad Titan Thanos will be the big baddie of the film.
Thanos, who’s been featured in the mid-credit scenes for both previous Avengers films, had a prominent role in Guardians of the Galaxy, acting as the puppet master for the film’s main villain Ronan, as well as being the father/stepfather of Nebula and Gamora. Not to mention, Drax has a bone to pick with him, as he blames Thanos for the murder of his family.Â
It just makes sense that Infinity War will finally be the collision point of the Guardians and Avengers storylines, and we can’t wait for that to happen. (Star-Lord and Iron Man hype!)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.Â
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 releases on May 4, 2018.Â
