Sorry Daisy.
We finally know who will portray  the lead character for the upcoming film reboot of Tomb Raider.Â
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Alicia Vikander been chosen to play the iconic adventurer Lara Croft.Â
Vikander is a Swedish actress who achieved global recognition through her roles in a handful of 2015 films, including Ex Machina, as the cyborg Ava. She also starred in The Danish Girl as painter Gerda Wegener, a role for which she received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.Â
Earlier this year, it was reported that The Force Awakens actress Daisy Ridley was the top contender for this role, but obviously this is no longer the case.Â
Tomb Raider, the long running action video game series, received a critically acclaimed reboot in 2013, and a sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider for Xbox One late last year. The success of this series prompted a film series reboot, after two entries starring Angelina Jolie as Croft.Â
MGM and Warner Bros. are co-producing the film, with Roar Uthaug (The Wave) set to direct.Â
We love Rey, but Alicia Vikander has proven herself to be a great talent, and we’re excited to what adventurers are in store for her.Â
Tomb Raider hits theaters in 2017.Â
