There is a real possibility of seeing Iron Man in next year’s untitled Spider-Man film.
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]hen the trailer for Captain America: Civil War dropped showcasing everyone’s favorite web-slinger making an appearance and stealing Captain America’s shield we thought that was a pretty big deal. Now that we know other Marvel Cinematic Universe characters are going to appear in Spider-Man’s standalone film this opens up the door to so many possible plotlines that Sony can take advantage of.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, confirmed that not only would Spider-Man end up lending a helping hand to Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War, but they are planning on introducing new and old characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man’s untitled standalone film.
“He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said.
Unfortunately, Kevin Feige couldn’t dish out any more details regarding who would be appearing in Spider-Man’s standalone film, choosing to keep quiet and let fans obsess over who will appear in the film. That didn’t stop Joe Russo, one of the Russo brothers and directors of Captain America: Civil War, from jokingly (or maybe not?) giving his own two cents.
“Let’s just say Great Lakes Avengers,” added Joe Russo, referencing the odd and hilarious team of ragtag superheroes.
Spider-Man will swing into theaters July 7th, 2017.
