‘Thor 3’ May Be Tom Hiddleston’s Last Appearance as Loki

Will Loki die (for real) in Ragnarok?

Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of the God of Mischief Loki has always been a highlight of the MCU films. However, his appearance in Thor: Ragnarok may be his last.

In an interview with The Daily Beast to promote his new miniseries The Night Manager, Hiddleston briefly addressed the third Thor film, Ragnarok, which will begin filming this June.

“Thor 3 will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years,” explains Hiddleston. “I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate.”

This prompted TDB to ask question if that means Loki won’t appear in Avengers: Infinity War, or any subsequent Marvel films.

“I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know,”shrugged Hiddleston.  “They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along.”

Hiddleston has been very coy about his role in Ragnarok, and future Marvel movies for some time now. Either he really is unsure about what will happen to the God of Mischief, or he just knows he can’t talk about it.

Assuming the third Thor film is inspired by the comic story arc of the same name, bad things are going to happen. Ragnarök is the Norse word for apocalypse, so basically, every Asgardian is wiped out (even though many characters are revived later).

So will Loki die? Maybe. The character already had one fake out death in Thor: The Dark World, so another one might be pushing it.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
