Either Darkseid’s daddy or buddy have a quick cameo in a scene that didn’t make the theatrical cut.Â
Dawn of Justice has finally hit theaters, and although we were pretty lukewarm on the film, we generally agreed that the 3 hour-long director’s cut may help flesh out some overlooked details and plot points.Â
Warner Bros. has recently released a deleted scene from Batman v Superman, that we can assume will be featured in the upcoming R-rated “Ultimate Edition” of the film.Â
The clip is titled “Communion,” and now we’re starting to think the director’s cut/Ultimate Edition will just make this film even more bloated and confusing.Â
The clip features a task force entering Zod’s Kryptonian ship to apprehend Lex Luthor, so this scene probably takes place (SPOILERS!) after Superman has died, and before Batman taunts Lex in prison.Â
We see that Luthor is “commuting” with a hologram of some sort of alien holding three cubes, only for the creature to disappear before Luthor is arrested.Â
While it’s still up for debate, fans are speculating that the alien is either Yuga Khan, the father of Darkseid, or Steppenwolf, a warrior in Darkseid’s army. Either way, this figure is connected to the Apokolips-ruling New God, Darkseid, who was teased in the film.Â
The three cubes are most likely “Mother Boxes,” sentient supercomputers with variable power. We see one earlier in the film during the infamous “Justice League e-mail scene,” where Victor Stone seemingly transforms into Cyborg through a Mother Box in his father’s possession.Â
While this brief scene would have made it a little clearer as to why Luthor knows of an incoming alien threat, that is probably Darkseid, ultimately, this scene wouldn’t have added much to this already long and confusing movie.Â
Maybe there are less confusing and better deleted scenes still to come. Maybe.Â
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition comes to home video this summer.Â
