It’s Stark v Danvers in the new comic crossover storyline.
While it won’t be long before the much-anticipated Captain America: Civil War hits theaters, Marvel Comics is currently gearing up for another crossover event, Civil War II.
Marvel has been trickling out teaser images for the upcoming saga, and the latest batch reveals the teams of the opposing heroes.
But first, the premise of the series: Civil War (which the incoming film will be partially based off) saw Captain America and Iron Man conflicted over a Superhero Registration Act, with Cap fighting for freedom, and Stark wanting security. The conflict in Civil War II stems from a mysterious figure who can accurately predict the events of the future. Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) wants to use this power to stop future crimes from happening, while Iron Man is against this foreseeing power. The two heroes clash over their ideals, and a new war of determinism versus free will is born.
The newest teaser images reveal the rosters for both Team Iron Man and Team Captain Marvel.
On Stark’s team is Black Widow, Hulk, Thor (Jane Foster), Miss America, Daredevil, Captain America (Sam Wilson), Hercules, Luke Cage, Black Panther, and Deadpool.
Fighting alongside Captain Marvel is Ant-Man, Spider-Man, Spectrum, Medusa, Vision, She-Hulk, Hawkeye, Winter Solider, Captain America (Steve Rogers), Blue Marvel, and War Machine.
Like the first Civil War, this conflict has many heroes fighting against character that are usually inseparable, like Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson, Iron Man and War Machine, or Spider-Man and Deadpool.
The premise, along with the interesting match-ups, should make for an intriguing storyline, and we’re excited to check it out.
Civil War II launches this June.
