One of the most anticipated games of 2016 finally gets its release date!

[dropcap size=small]L[/dropcap]ast year at E3, Hello Games director Sean Murray introduced us to the gameplay of No Man’s Sky. Since then, nothing has been released, including the release date. But now, it’s official that the release date is on June 21st! Murray recently explained why there was no update announced since last summer.

We’ve been a little quiet since we showed the game last year at E3, and it’s because we’ve been heads down and hard at work on development. It’s been a hectic but really exciting time for the team. Finishing a game is incredibly hard but lovely to watch as the pieces fall into place.

This is a very open game with a variety of things that you can do. You could call it something close to Skyrim and Destiny combined into one game (if I had to describe it that way.) In this game, you can trade, fight, explore, and survive the vast amounts of threats that will get in your way. This game gives you so much in what you can do, it’s crazy!

Hello Games has been working long hours to complete this game. Murray even admitted that the team pulled a few all-nighters just so they could stay on schedule and everyone had a good time working together.

We pulled a few all-nighters this week in preparation! It was incredibly scary for us, but the moment we saw people start claiming discoveries, shouting and laughing at each other’s screens, we knew the hard work was paying off, and could collapse contentedly in the corner.

Murray also said that the game will have a “full-blown Blu-Ray retail version” of the game. Not only that, but Murray also wants to add more to the game after it’s released in June.

Most importantly, it gives us the best chance possible to keep supporting the game for free after it is released. No Man’s Sky will launch as a complete game in June, but there’s a lot we’d like to add post-launch, if we can.

If you haven’t seen what this game looks like, check out the game trailer below that was released at E3 last year!

Be sure to collect your copy of No Man’s Sky on June 21st this summer!
